ABOUT SHANNON EFFLER
Hi, I'm Shannon

About Me
I am a proud 7th generation Blount County resident, rooted deeply in the values, faith, and traditions that make our community strong. My family’s history here spans generations, and I believe that kind of legacy brings both perspective and responsibility to serve well.
As a committed grassroots conservative, I believe government works best when it is transparent, fiscally responsible, and accountable to the people it represents. I support responsible growth that protects Blount County’s rural character, strengthens families, and ensures smart stewardship of taxpayer dollars.
Beyond public service, I have faithfully served the community through hands-on volunteer work. I’ve worked alongside local women’s shelters and food banks, supporting families in times of need and helping strengthen the safety net that serves Blount County’s most vulnerable neighbors. I also serve on the board of the Mary Blount Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), honoring the legacy of faith, courage, and service that shaped our nation and this community.
I am married to my husband, Jason, and together we have three children and a son-in-law. Faith and family are at the center of my life, it guides my commitment to lead with integrity, compassion, and common sense.
Serving as County Commissioner isn’t about politics, it’s about preserving the values that have sustained Blount County for generations and ensuring it remains a place where families can thrive for generations to come.
MY MISSION
Why am I running for
County Commissioner?
School System Accountability

Our school systems policies and procedures were weak and inconsistent resulting in the protection of a predator for more than 20 years. Because of that protection, he was unknowingly at my daughter’s school, and she is in a vulnerable population with special needs. A vote for me will work towards preventing this from happening to other parents.
Putting Blount County Families First

Blount County works best when decisions are made close to the people who live with the results. Too often, local government drifts into habits that leave everyday residents out of the conversation. I’m running for County Commission because I want to bring decision‑making back to YOU. The neighborhoods and small businesses that make up our community. When leaders stay connected to real people and real life, we make better choices for Blount County’s future. We need mindful, transparent decision‑making that listens to our community, respects our traditions, and ensures our children and grandchildren can afford to stay in the place we love.
Honoring Our Land, Heritage, and Way of Life

Blount County’s mountains and open spaces are beautiful! The ridgelines and rural character that make this place feel like home are worth protecting, and I want to make sure growth decisions honor the land, our heritage, and the way of life we’ve built here.
